With the CDC still waging war on the cruise lines, there are a few options available for cruisers this summer. Just to give some background, in November 2020, the CDC implemented a Conditional Sail Order (CSO) which outlined steps cruise lines would need to take to safely resume cruises from US ports. The CSO is set to expire November 1, 2021 or sooner if the CDC deems it is no longer necessary. The CSO has a 4 step approach to resuming cruises. Despite the major lines having achieved stage 1 many months ago, the CDC has yet to issue guidance on the next phases. This has created much frustration and things continue to change each day. However, there are few options still available to US travelers desperate for a cruise this summer.
